TPole integrates CODESYS on two of its products: mii470 and TPBox18

Recently, following specific customer requests, we have integrated CODESYS on two of our products, the mii470 and the TPBox18.

To ensure total compatibility with Ethercat, the fieldbus chosen by customers, we have installed add-on cards with the Intel i210 Ethernet chip on board on both models.

The mii470 was chosen because the customer combined both the motion part, managed by the core which CODESYS takes over, and the HMI part on this PC.

It should be noted that, having the need for determinism, we also installed the Real Time RTE extension for Windows by 3S (also supplier of CODESYS).

The customer’s HMI software requires a lot of resources and this made it necessary to have a certain number of physical cores with good performance also from a graphics point of view.

The choice fell on an i7-10700E which, with its 8 physical cores and a clock of 2.90 GHz, with hyperthreading and turbo boost on disabled CODESYS applications, meets the performance needs of the application.

Integrated UPS

Furthermore, since the customer had an independent backup line, he was able to fully exploit the functionality of the UPS integrated on the mii470 without adding a battery and battery charger.

The power supply with integrated UPS was designed by TPole and the firmware, present on the microcontroller, is totally developed and maintained by our company.

The second application sees our TPBox18 used “only” as a PLC where the CODESYS SW runs on the Linux operating system.

The aforementioned compatibility thanks to the I210, a mechanism designed to be inserted into an electrical panel, taking up as little space as possible and an excellent quality/price ratio have made our product preferable to others.

UPS Supercap

In this case, to manage unsafe shutdowns, we suggested to the customer a Supercap UPS supplied by us. This technology takes the user away from having to worry about battery maintenance, since super capacitors, by their very nature, have a practically unlimited lifespan.
