{"id":7052,"date":"2017-05-23T12:47:46","date_gmt":"2017-05-23T10:47:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tpole.it\/news-by-t-pole\/7040\/"},"modified":"2019-11-08T16:57:35","modified_gmt":"2019-11-08T15:57:35","slug":"machine-vision-quality-control","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tpole.it\/en\/news-by-t-pole\/machine-vision-quality-control\/","title":{"rendered":"Machine Vision &#038; Quality Control"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>\n\nThis month the newsletter is dedicated to <strong>Machine Vision and Quality Control applications<\/strong>.\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/gallery.mailchimp.com\/461d9ea65252f2195c9d38da7\/images\/e6fb0479-c06a-4464-bc11-71b5a58c7689.jpg\" alt=\"Machine Vision e Quality Control\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\n\nOur customers who work in these industries, are more and more using GPUs as processing units; especially <strong>NVIDIA cards<\/strong>, thanks to CUDA libraries, are among the most used.\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From the HW point of view, having a PC provided by the manufacturer with the video card, is a remarkable security for the<strong> system&#8217;s thermal equilibrium<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The introduction of an add-in card in these types of PCs is not trivial and, if not carefully evaluated, can cause several problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>In TPOLE<\/strong>, thanks to the experience gained in our 22 years of activity and the presence of the climatic chamber,<strong> we are able to evaluate the thermal impact of any add-on card inserted (or not) into a fanless system<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Fanless PC ECS-9100 GTX 1050<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/gallery.mailchimp.com\/461d9ea65252f2195c9d38da7\/images\/6a0e7ea8-6c7a-466f-9f50-df0ce48d2fac.jpg\" alt=\"PC Fanless ECS-9100 GTX 1050\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>We can start with the presentation of a <strong>fanless pc produced by the Vecow company, model<\/strong> <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tpole.it\/en\/embedded-pc\/fanless-pc-en\/ecs-9100-gtx1050\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ECS-9100 GTX 1050<\/a><\/strong>, supplied with an already integrated NVIDIA video card.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vecow has inserted two small fans to provide the pc with an operating temperature of -40 \u00b0 C to 60 \u00b0 C.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The installed video card is the <strong>NVIDIA GeForce\u00ae GTX 1050<\/strong> based on the new Pascal technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The card, if used with the CUDA API, is available with <strong>640 NVIDIA CUDA CORES<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This facilitates and speeds up applications, while also lowering CPU core load.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Below is the video card benchmark:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/gallery.mailchimp.com\/461d9ea65252f2195c9d38da7\/images\/b946495f-df4d-4590-84a1-a4bc0219f28a.jpg\" alt=\"Benchmark NVIDIA CUDA CORES\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\n\nBelow are the<strong> main features of the pc:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>LGA 1151 Socket supports workstation-grade Intel\u00ae Xeon\u00ae\/Core&#x2122; i7 Processor (Kaby Lake\/Skylake) with C236 chipset<\/li><li>NVIDIA GeForce\u00ae GTX 1050 Graphics engine supports NVIDIA Pascal&#x2122; GPU architecture, up to 8K resolution<\/li><li>Multiple DVI-D, DVI-I, DisplayPort and HDMI display interfaces, up to 6 independent HD displays<\/li><li>2 DDR4 2133MHz Memory, up to 32GB (ECC\/Non-ECC)<\/li><li>2 Independent GigE LAN, iAMT 11.0 supported<\/li><li>3 SIM Card Socket for WiFi\/3G\/4G\/LTE\/GPRS\/UMTS<\/li><li>Storage: 2 2.5&#8243; SSD Tray, 1 CFast, 1 M2DOM, 2 SATA III<\/li><li>Expansion: 1 M.2 Socket, 3 Mini PCIe\/mSATA<\/li><li>8 External USB 3.0,&nbsp;4 COM, 16 GPIO, 3Mini PCIe\/mSATA<\/li><li>10V to 36V DC power input with&nbsp;80V Surge Protection<\/li><li>Configurable Ignition Power Control, Smart Battery Protection<\/li><li>-40\u00b0C to 60\u00b0C Operating Temperature<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/gallery.mailchimp.com\/461d9ea65252f2195c9d38da7\/images\/0d18f45e-e4c6-4bdf-91d5-5d426aec830c.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\n\nIn more complex applications it often happens that the PC is connected to a <strong>switch<\/strong>, which is connected to the cameras and other devices that communicate on the network.\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The network traffic generated by the cameras can be very high and delay or compromise the communication between PLCs and other controllers. For this reason it is suggested to divide communication between groups so that a group does not interfere with the other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To enjoy this feature, it is essential to use a <strong>VLAN<\/strong> on the Volktek managed switches, which allows you to isolate some ports as if they physically belonged to a separate switch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/gallery.mailchimp.com\/461d9ea65252f2195c9d38da7\/images\/e7171748-17d4-44ba-8979-53c0053520cb.jpg\" alt=\"Switch Managed Volktek\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A very important feature for reliability and maintainability of the switch, is the presence of the<strong> dual flash where the firmware resides<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If one of the two (flash) is damaged the other will work from backup; So the switch would continue to work smoothly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the firmware update phase, the &#8220;old&#8221; firmware remains on until the installation operation on the other is successful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At this point the switch will copy the updated firmware on the first one to restore the backup of the other flash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\n\nBelow are the main features of the&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"\/?fb_cat_switch=industrial-ethernet-switches\/managed-industrial-ethernet-switches\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">switch managed<\/a> <\/strong>produced by&nbsp;Volktek.\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns has-2-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Up to 16 Gigabit ethernet ports<\/li><li>Up to&nbsp;4 SFP<\/li><li>Redunded power supply&nbsp;12-60Vdc<\/li><li>Aluminium case&nbsp;IP30 grade of protection<\/li><li>Wide Temperature Range&nbsp;-40\u00b0C to 75\u00b0C<\/li><li>Surge Protection<\/li><\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/gallery.mailchimp.com\/461d9ea65252f2195c9d38da7\/images\/f337bbbc-c3a0-44c2-9353-e3d34088c5b5.jpg\" alt=\"Switch Managed Volktek\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This month the newsletter is dedicated to Machine Vision and Quality Control applications.
